Process

From yarn to material.

Every Loomcore textile begins as a material question. Yarn, colour, weave structure and surface are developed through an iterative process between the studio and artisan weavers.

Testing & Refinement

Samples are reviewed for structure, texture, handle, appearance and intended application before further development.

The Weaving Community

Loomcore works in collaboration with kolathuvayal weavers society, Kannur, Kerala, where traditional handloom knowledge is carried through generations. Rather than separating design from production, Loomcore develops textiles alongside the people and processes that make them possible.

Why handloom?

Handloom allows material development to remain close to the maker. It creates possibilities for experimentation in yarn, structure, colour and surface while retaining the tactile character of the woven process.
